Recently there was a deadly shooting where a teen opened fire at Apalachee high school in Winder, Ga. The student (14-year old Colt Gray) ended up being responsible for the deaths of two students and two teachers. The student was also responsible for the injuries of 9 others, seven of whom suffered from gunshot wounds. Gray has been charged as an adult with four counts of murder and the father (54-year old Colin Gray) has been charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children.
It Is known that the student had made several prior threats to shoot up the school; yet after looking into it, investigators ultimately did nothing. Gray who was 13 at the time, was accused of making threats to “shoot up the school tomorrow” on a social media app called Discord. When spoken to by the Investigator the boy said “he would never say such a thing, even in a joking manner”. This led to no arrests being made at the time due to inconsistent information with the Discord account and also not enough information to make a justified arrest. The inconsistent information with the Discord account was due to it being used in different places and having evidence that it may have been hacked.
As for the nine other people who were injured (eight students and one teacher), they were all rushed to the hospital and are expected to survive. This gruesome shooting is said to be the 30th mass killing in the U.S. so far this year.
