As the sun rises, seniors gather together to watch their senior year begin. Over the past 3 years, memories have been built brick by brick and it is now coming to an end. Fortunately, clubs have come together to create a final year filled with events like Senior Sunrise, Homecoming, and Grad bash. The school organizes these events each year to have seniors participate in the school spirit and get involved for their last time.
“These experiences will largely impact how I look back at my senior year and my overall enjoyment of the year,” Jovani Francois, a senior, said.
The school year started off bittersweet with the senior’s “Last First Day”. Filled with excitement and jitters, they realized that it was the last day they would be experiencing that feeling. The second week of school, seniors celebrated at Senior Sunrise and then hit the gym for the Senior Panoramic Picture. Seniors started off this morning by taking pictures, playing board games, and going out to eat breakfast with their long-known peers.
“So far in the year there has been so many last first. Such as the last first day, game day, class, and even small things like my last first lunch with my best friends. Although this year can be stressful at times, I already know that I’ll remember these memories so I’m soaking it all up,” Marisol Peak, a senior, said.
An event coming up is Homecoming on Sept. 21. Along with a spirit week, Powder Puff, and the Homecoming game, there are many things to look forward to that lead up to the Homecoming dance. It was announced that the theme is Interstellar and includes spirit weekdays like “Sleep under the Stars”, “In another Universe”, and “Big dipper little Dipper,” that gives students a chance to participate and show their school spirit.
“As a member of SGA, it feels great being a part of the full homecoming process. As a senior, I want to show my best energy and effort for our school spirit week leading up to homecoming because I know that it will be our last and I want to make the best out of it,” Sumayah Noble, a senior, said.
Later in the year, students will have the chance to participate in Grad Bash, prom, and graduation. Grad Bash is a field trip for seniors that consists of going to a theme park from sunset to sunrise. Theme parks like Universal, Disney World, and Busch Gardens, are closed off for the night for the class of 2025 from many different schools in the area.
Prom, the seniors last dance, gives the realization that high school is coming to an end which then leads to graduation. The last day you will be in the same place with the same people you have grown up with since elementary school. Many dream of this day, many dread this day. It will be a day that releases you into the next chapter of your life.
