Love island is an American reality dating show that started off being British version “Love Island”. The American show is based off of this and is called “love island “as well. The American version started in season four, and the first episode of that season came out in 2019. The most recent season of love island aired in 2024.
The T.V. show follows a bunch of contestants also known as the islanders who live on an island separated from the outside world and they stay in what is called the villa. At the start of the show the islanders pair up based on only first impressions. After this, they can recouple. The ones that aren’t in a couple get eliminated. As islanders are eliminated more enter the villa. At a certain point in the show the audience gets to choose their favorite islanders and who gets to stay. The winning couple get money they can choose whether to split. During the season episodes come out every day except for Wednesday at 9PM ET.
The love island season six reunion aired on August 19, 2024. At these reunions the couples come back to share their relationship status.
The islanders that were at the reunion were Serena Page, Kordell Beckham, Leah Kateb, Miguel Harichi, JaNa Craig, Kenny Rodriguez, Nicole Jacky and Kendall Washington. Of the couples Kordell and Serena, Kenny and JaNa, and Leah and Miguel all announced that they are officially dating. Also during the reunion they all share what had been going on in their lives. In this season’s reunion it was voted that Kordell and Serena were the winners and they both chose to spit the money of 100,000 U.S. dollars.
Many students that watched the show shared similar thoughts on characters and they were mostly divided into two groups. When interviewed and asked about their favorite character on the show, the data was split evenly between two people. Serena and Leah. Some of the reasoning for this was because they added the most to the show and had the best personalities on the show. When it came to the couples, there were a lot of mixed opinions due to the way they treated each other and how good they were together. Overall, most people interviewed really enjoyed the season.
