Feeling a slight breeze in the air signals that fall is upon us. It’s that time of year where we start our mornings with a pumpkin spice latte and throw on our Uggs to set us in the mood for the season. Fall is filled with many different activities to participate in that can bring you and your friends or family closer together.
Fall festivals, pumpkin patches, haunted houses, new treats to try, the possibilities are endless when finding something to do this autumn. The current rave that everyone is obsessing over is pumpkin flavored sweets. Whether it’s an iced pumpkin cream chai latte, a pumpkin cake crumbl cookie, or Franken Berry cereal, it is always a must try. This season started early and has the younger generation soaking in the moments of Sept. and Oct.
“Fall is my friend and I’s favorite season, so we have started a tradition of having a night in September or October where we grab a few things from the store to paint pumpkins, try seasonal treats, and overall, just relax and watch some movies together,” said Ivy Neckar, a senior.
Since October has begun, many fall festivals have opened. The Dade City Farms Festival, Sweetfields Farm, The Heights District Fall Fest, and Harvest Moon Fun Farm are all activity filled festivals that have pumpkin patches, food and drinks, markets, hayrides, and corn mazes. As the weather cools down, getting out of your house and taking a stroll around these festivals is refreshing.
Social media has given many ideas of what to buy, what to eat, where to go, and what to do. People are influenced by these suggestions and have made Fall a trendy season. The month of October also includes Halloween, a day where we can dress up in a creative costume and venture out into the night.
“This year my friends and I are doing a group costume. We are each being Disney princesses and having our boyfriend’s go as the prince,” said Audrey Thomasson, a senior.
The film industry has many iconic Halloween movies in many different genres. From horror to comedy, everyone has a top one movie that they always watch during the fall season. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which was recently released to theaters, Hocus Pocus, Halloween, and Halloweentown are all favorite films that are rewatched this time of year.
“Halloweentown was one of my favorite childhood movies. My family and I would watch it every year,” said Neckar.
Many theme parks put together their annual something with a variety of haunted houses to go into. Halloween Horror Nights, Howl-o-Scream, Scream-a-Geddon, are popular attractions that include different haunted houses and themes that change every year. Although frightening, these haunted houses will bring an adrenaline rush with the sudden scare actors that pop out of the detailed decorations in the houses.
Make sure to grab your Uggs and a sweater for a cute fall look for this season.
