Scandals have been breaking out in the industry for the past decade. Many well-known singers, directors, and actors have been called out for their suspicious behavior while doing their job. For many years these celebrities got away with their creepy and illegal actions because of their household names. Celebrities like P Diddy, Jeffery Episien, Dan Shnider, Chris brown, Donald Trump, and many more celebrities have gotten away with heinous crimes for years and are just now getting called out and prosecuted for said crimes.
“I think it is ridiculous that celebrities can get away crimes, but they only get away with them because of their popularity,” said Hector Galan, a senior.
The most recent scandal that hit the internet was the case of Sean “Diddy” Combs. This came out after a video of him dragging his ex-girlfriend in 2016. After this video was released, he has been in close watch from the police. Until now, when the federal police officers raided his house and found many suspicious items. As of now his case is still ongoing.
Many know Dan Schneider as the director and producer of our favorite childhood shows. Shows like ICarly, and Victorious were household favorites. Until rumors surfaced, in the early days of those shows Schneider was seen exploding and making the cases generally uncomfortable with risky comments. One of the main actors on ICarly Jennette McCurdy who played Sam in the past year came out and talked about her many uncomfortable experiences with Schneider. After everything Schneider was never arrested or convicted but he was ousted from celebrity life.
“I believe that Schneider deserves jail time for the exploation of the children on Nickelodeon” said Jasmine Polk, a junior.
The former president of the United States Donald Trump has many cases against him. One of them being for sexual assault. The victim in this case ended up winning and getting five million dollars through the allegations that Trump raped her. But this is not the only time this former president has been in trouble with the law, he has had eighteen women come forward with allegations of mistreatment and inappropriate behavior. With all the allegations against him he has yet to step foot in jail for them.
Chris Brown one of the most popular hip-hop artists on the scene right now was accused of beating his former girlfriend, Rhiana. In early 2000 Brown and Rhiana dated. At the time they were the ‘it’ couple. Their relationship was short lived as they broke up in 2008. Following their breakup information was leaked that Brown was physically assaulting Rhiana during this relationship. The issue was settled in court in 2009 when Rhiana won the case and Brown was sentenced to five years. The ironic thing now is that he has a huge fan base and is still coming out with music to this day.
“It is unfair that celebrities can get away with so many crimes before the issue is addressed or before the authorities get involved,” said Galan.
